The Winds of Change?

Good Morning to our readers!!!

We are nearly finished our home study, which has been a long time coming. We have 3 meeting left and then the real waiting game begins! We are so excited that things are moving along!

Its really hard to believe that words and phrases like "When the baby arrives" or "Our child" etc. are starting to creep into our vocabulary. :)

Now having said all that, we are considering adoption from the USA. Things seem to run quicker and of course the financial aspect id a BIG factor.

Well, we will keep you posted as our home study comes to a close and what we decide on the US or Columbia.

Blessings!

Changes...

Just an update..we changed our blog name to The Canada Columbia Connection, if you havent guessed that already.

And we just finished our first of two trainning sessions for international adoption. It was really informative and it was nice to see other couples in the same boat as us. We heard from a couple that adopted from Kazectstan (sorry about the spelling), and all the trials and tribulations they wnet through.

We are now at Melissa's sister's place here in Fredericton...and we are excited to get tomorrow underway!

Ciao!

Fredericton Bound!

Well it has been a real long while since our last post! After our dissapointing news re: Haiti, Melissa and I had a lot of thinking and praying to do..were we going to wait to qualify for Haiti, choose another country, or drop the whole adoption idea....???

In the end we were led to pursue adoption from the beautiful country of Columbia!

This weekend is our trainning course for Internationl Adoption and we are really excited to get to this stage of the process!

We will update ya'll as the weekend progresses!

Bye for now!

Not so Haitian after all.

After all the paperwork, and all the "whatever", we found out yesterday that the Haitian Gov't has changed their adoption policy which states that "Adoptive parents must be married for at least 5 years, and one of the adoptive parents must be 30 years of age."

So if you check our profile, we have been married foe 3 years, I am 25, and Melissa will be 28....Cue the loosing music from The Price is Right.

We were offered a refund of our fees, however, that wasn't the point for us. We were sad, angry, fustrated that this didnt come out until now. So our option now is to choose another country...here we sit on Saturday parooooosing the net and some info that we were given to see where we want to go from here.

As soon as we find out, I guess we will be re-naming the blog. :) As it stands now, we'll call it "The End of Our Haitian Adventure".

Ciao

And the Disapointment/Waiting red tape begins!

WooWHO! Melissa and I finally told my family of our adventure last Thursday! They were sooooo excited! I captured it on my Flip camera, so we can watch it over and over!

So with the good, comes the ugly! Our course this weekend past was canceled due to the weather. BOO! We were sooooooooo dissapointed! And to top it off, the reschedule date for this coming weekend is no good for us. So we pray that everything will move along and we can get this done!

We have been out looking at baby stuff and reovation stuff! EXCITING!

Yesterday we got a call from our social worker, and we have a meeting set up for Monday! AWESOME! Things are starting to look up!

I will try and be more faithful to the blog now that we are sort of rolling on now!

A pic or two...

Some of le pics...

Round Two!

Well it has been a day or so since my last post. We are now into our second round of paperwork, first payment and prepping for our trainning session in Fredericton! We are SOOOO SOOOO excited!

This round of paperwork has been a challenge. It really make you think about yourself, and your sopuse...who you are and are not, who you think you are and not..etc.

Its almost unbearable to watch the news on Haiti these days, as the situation is becoming more grave, and the images of abandoned children become more and more evident. I cant wait for the day we step off the plane in Haiti for the first time! What a day..so close in mind, but far away in red tape land.

I am glad that I am working all weekend, and away from home and the TV.

My next post will be the day we submit package number two! See you then!

...more paperwork!

So the paperwork didn't get deliver today as anticipated. The lack of sun and over-abundance of snow, wind and cold mad for a nasty drive around town today. We took a few pics of the paperwork that will hopefully be dropped off tomorrow..as soon as I figure out how to post them..I will!

I had a dream today (yes I slept during the day), that we were getting on the plane to Haiti and all the details had been ironed out and life was A1...YAY! that day will hopefully come sooner, rather than later.

Melissa and I are watching Oprah from earlier today..Wycliff Jean is on showing some first person footage of the disaster..Wow!

We pray every night that out son/daughter to be is safe and can sense that better days are on the way!

And the adventure begins...

Well here we are, nearly 36 hours into the adoption process and I am already getting impatient! I am sure Mrs. is too! Hopefully today or tomorrow our first packages of paperwork will be deliverd and we will be "offically" in the adoption ring.

Hopefully things will move along in light of the recent catastrophy in Haiti. We look forward to future post and pics as the adventure continues!
